Questions people ask before they call.

How long does a granite countertop project take?

After you choose your slab, we template the space to get exact measurements. For most kitchens, fabrication and installation follow within about one to two weeks of templating. We give you a firm schedule once we template, so you know what to expect.

What's the difference between granite and quartz?

Granite is natural stone quarried from the earth, so every slab has unique movement and color, and it handles heat very well. Quartz is engineered from crushed stone and resin, which makes it non-porous and highly consistent in pattern, but less tolerant of direct heat.

Granite benefits from periodic sealing; quartz doesn't need it. We fabricate both, so we'll give you a straight answer about which suits your kitchen rather than steering you toward one.

Do I need to seal my granite countertops?

Yes. Granite is naturally porous, so a sealer helps it resist staining. We seal every granite installation before we leave.

After that, a simple test tells you when it's due again: leave a few drops of water on the surface for several minutes. If the stone darkens underneath, it's time to reseal. Depending on the stone and how hard the kitchen gets used, that's usually somewhere between once a year and once every few years.

Can I see the actual slab before you cut it?

Absolutely — and we encourage it. Natural stone varies from slab to slab, so a photo or a small sample never tells the whole story. We'll take you to the yard to pick the exact slab your countertops get cut from, so there are no surprises on install day.

Do you remove and dispose of my old countertops?

Yes. Tear-out and haul-away of your existing tops can be built into your quote. Mention it during the estimate so we can plan the schedule and, where possible, keep everything to a single visit.

Do you charge for estimates?

No. Estimates are free and carry no obligation. Send over your project details and we'll get back to you within one to two business days to talk it through and set up a walkthrough.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in St. Clair Shores and work throughout Metro Detroit's east side — Grosse Pointe and all its communities, Harper Woods, Eastpointe, Roseville, and the surrounding area. If you're just outside that, call and ask; we often can still help.
